At Academy Services, we’re always pushing to stay ahead — not just in the field, but in the classroom too. Earlier this year, our own Lee attended a Valley® Linear Design Training Seminar in sunny Phoenix, Arizona. Over the course of three days, he dove deep into the world of linear irrigation systems through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on fieldwork.

“Linears are a beast of their own,” Lee shared. “They have a specific place in the irrigation industry. While some customers hesitate because of their reputation, they’re not all that different from traditional pivots — it’s just about knowing the right application.”
💧 Application Matters
Linears shine in large, flat fields where every acre needs irrigation. Whether it’s ditch-fed or hose-drag, understanding your field layout and water source is essential in determining if a linear is the right fit.
📏 Alignment & Guidance Are Critical
Proper setup from day one is crucial. Even minor misalignment can cause ongoing issues, leading to frustration and downtime.
🛠️ More Maintenance, But Worth It
Yes, linears require more upkeep than traditional pivots — but when used in the right conditions, they can be a smart and effective investment.
Lee’s new knowledge means better support for customers considering linears — and better service for those already using them.
